Parish Council Members

Here are our Parish Council Members for the village of Westerfield. If you hover over the relevant person's photo you can find out more about them....
 
Peter has lived in Ipswich all his life and moved into Westerfield in 1999. Peter is married to Olive and has three grown up children. He is a Chartered Engineer and has worked mainly on the design and construction of roads and bridges in East Anglia. After his work and family, his interests are the Boys Brigade and sport. He has been a Boys Brigade Officer for nearly 40 years and is now vice president of the Ipswich and District Battalion. Peter has been a qualified football referee for 45 years and he has early memories of cycling out of town to referee Westerfield United when they played in Lower Road. Peter has a love of singing and although doesn’t have sufficient time to devote to this interest, he often accepts the invitation to sing with various choirs. Dick is married to Julia and they have three grown up sons, they have lived in the village since 1977. Dick hopes to represent the views/concerns of those living in the south of the village particularly around the railway crossing.

John has lived in Westerfield since 1963 (over 40 years – who can beat this?) and has been a Westerfield Parish Councillor since 1998. John is Chairman of the Parish Council Planning Sub-Committee and is Chairman of the Westerfield Village Hall Charity. He is married with two grown up daughters. John was Chief Engineer of the Port of Felixstowe for 18 years and then for 5 years Director of Technical Services of the Port Consultancy Organisation. On retirement in 1989 John set up his own consultancy firm finally retiring in 1997. Rosie moved into Westerfield in 1996 having lived in Witnesham for 20 years. She now has two young children at school and works part-time in the Policy and Performance Dept for Ipswich Borough Council. Gardening is one of her passions but she can occasionally be spotted jogging through the village…slowly she adds!!!! Hope you give her a wave.

Barrys History will be posted shortly. Phil and I tried to move into the village from Trimley on the day after the hurricane in 1987!!!! Several years later Christopher was born and he can now be seen doing the morning paper-round. Chris attends Northgate High. I originally worked at British Telecom Research Labs on commercial aspects of telecom projects. After redundancy I now work part-time at Business Link for Suffolk, which supports the development of businesses in Suffolk. I sit on the Bridget Collett Educational Trust in the village.
